Losing Your Inkheart

Today is a quiet day. I haven’t had a lot of quiet days recently. There has been much to do and many people to see and distract myself with. Distractions are good to a certain extent, but not when they are also distracting you from writing.

Mostly, I’ve been trying to ignore my emotions. I figured I could. If I ignore them then I don’t have to think about things. The problem with that is that I lose heart in the things that I really enjoy doing and I just can’t function when I try to do them.

One major thing that I’ve been lacking in recently is the heart to write.

Just Get It Written

Those are the words that are constantly repeated at me by my parents. They seem to think that writing a novel is easy and that once I do I will be immediately snapped up by a publishing house and suddenly become rich and famous. All of my efforts to correct them on this matter seem to fade into nothingness in their brains.

Of course, this usually stems from discussions wherein I’m told I don’t have a job because they don’t consider it a job or well paid enough. And that discussion usually stems from being asked to clean up a mess that either Master Berserker or Blindy McBlindBlind have made. And why doesn’t Master Berserker have to help around the house or clean up?

Apparently it’s because he has a real job and is out at work.

I Am What I Am

And no one can take that away from me. Some have tried, but that’s a longer tale than this blog post will hold and far deeper into my consciousness than any of you are probably willing to go.

Recently, I’ve noticed that I’ve been trying to curb myself on this blog from saying things I really want to say, all for the sake of public image. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing in regards to certain subjects, but it does make the original point of this journal redundant to say the least.

I’ve been trying to do that thing that so many writing blogs tell you to do: lose some of the intimacy and therefore gain a wider access to readers. So, I’ve tried.

Writing Methods & Birthdays

What have writing methods got to do with birthdays?

Nothing really, but I’m going to cover both things in this post so I figured it might be a bit more explanatory to go with that as a title rather than one of my usual random statements.

But first, for a quick note, you may have noticed that I’ve jiggled the blog widgets again. I promise that I’m not doing this to confuse you all. I’ve just been trying to optimise it so you can find everything so much easier without it being terribly confusing and cluttered. I hope it’s worked.
