@LadyAntimony gave me another blog award over on her blog Thoughts, Musings and Broken Promises! This one is called the Liebster Blog Award.

I’m so glad she chose to give me the award amongst so many other brilliant bloggers and want to thank her such a lot.

Now I have some thanks to dish out. Some fantastic people have recently mentioned me on their blogs. In no way did I hint or ask them to do this so I was truly thrilled when I found out they had.

Considering I’ve been having a hard time of it lately, this has helped to kick start my summer. For those of you who don’t know, I’m a lollipop lady (school crossing guard to Americans), which means my summer holidays have officially kicked off.

A Collection of Random

First on the list of random things: #UKWriter. This is a new hash tag for tweeters that two lovely ladies, @AnneMhairi and @LadyAntimony, created in order for writers in the UK to connect with each other. They observed how few UK writers there seemed to be interacting with each other on twitter and decided to do something about it.

I must admit that I often noticed how a lot of my writing contacts on the network are from overseas rather than from this side of the pond, so to speak. So if you are a UK writer and you feel like finding the rest of us, please try the hash tag. It would be nice to get in touch. Along with the #amwriting tag and the Aspiring Writers Pledge, I think these are great ways to get writers connected and talking.

I Am What I Am

And no one can take that away from me. Some have tried, but that’s a longer tale than this blog post will hold and far deeper into my consciousness than any of you are probably willing to go.

Recently, I’ve noticed that I’ve been trying to curb myself on this blog from saying things I really want to say, all for the sake of public image. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing in regards to certain subjects, but it does make the original point of this journal redundant to say the least.

I’ve been trying to do that thing that so many writing blogs tell you to do: lose some of the intimacy and therefore gain a wider access to readers. So, I’ve tried.
