Sunshine, Seagulls, & Book Progress

It’s been an on and off week as far as the weather is concerned. One minute we’ve had bright sunshine followed by rain and even some fog in the mix. Last Sunday, however, was a wonderful day, living up to its namesake.

It meant that Howard and I headed to the beach for burgers and doughnuts as well as a little stroll.

I can’t explain to you how lovely it’s been to go from having pretty much zero days off together to one set day every week. Sundays together mean that we actually see each other and spend more time with each other than we have in the past three years of living here.

Them’s The Breaks & Christmas Plans

It’s been a strange week, not least because my other half, Mr Bear, ended up staying home to work for three days after catching his foot against the door in the middle of the night. We think he’s either broken or seriously injured his toe. A call to the NHS helpline meant he’s had it strapped up and been unable to walk on it for a few days.

Of course, this almost nixed our plans to use my first Saturday off in ages to visit the York Christmas market. In the end, we did end up going, but Howard Bear’s foot was still quite achy and we didn’t stay as long as we possibly would have liked.

However, it was absolutely belting it down with rain, so I’m partly glad we didn’t stay that long and went, instead, to find somewhere warm to dry off and eat.

Blood Pressure, Stress, & Presents

Normally, I would have provided a blog update much sooner, but I had another migraine. I had a rather rushed week trying to fit what appears to have been too much into my days off. Of course, the combination of that and air pressure pushed my blood pressure unpleasantly upwards.

Unfortunately, it’s also created a combination of other stresses. I’d been scheduled for very few hours the week before and this last week, which means that with two days off through illness I’ll be paid even less than I was going to be. Normally, I might have asked to put some hours of holiday pay through to help me out (I usually have quite a bit of holiday saved up& I don’t use it very often), but apparently we’re not allowed to do that any more.

A Grand Day Out: Lavender & Cinema Cuddles

It’s been a busy and tiring weekend at work hence the late posting here. Thankfully, we’re now into the home stretch. Summer holidays are over and most of the schools go back tomorrow, which means a hopeful break from the tension building, long slog of the summer.

On a happier note, Howard Bear took a day off that coincided with one of mine and so we were actually able to spend some good quality time together.

And, as you might expect, that translated to a day out. It turned into a very expensive day out, but that was less intentional.
