Miracle On This Street

Okay, maybe not so much a miracle, but I have been watching my favourite Christmas film – the ‘94 version with Richard Attenborough and Mara Wilson – and I put up our tree. Yes, I know it’s early, but I enjoy all the trappings of Christmas. I may not be Christian, but I think the holiday is a pretty good one.

It’s supposed to be about being selfless & giving. And that doesn’t mean just giving material things, it could mean your time and energy as well. Not every present has to be wrapped up in a bow.

Although, bows do help.

Tricks, Treats, Writing, & The Martian

Well, it is nearly Halloween (Samhuinn/Samhain) so I guess I really had to talk about some trick or treating.

Of course, the trick bit is that I’m still not well. Although, remarkably, this evening I feel incredibly better than I have done. In fact, I feel a little bit brighter mentally, too. And less dopiness surely means that this is beginning to finally lift?

I cannot describe to you how glad I will be when the cough and the running nose are totally gone. Though, I have been able to breathe freely and with no running nose for the last hour; so keep your fingers crossed for me!

Unfortunately, I did bite my tongue last night. A Grand Day Out: Lavender & Cinema Cuddles

It’s been a busy and tiring weekend at work hence the late posting here. Thankfully, we’re now into the home stretch. Summer holidays are over and most of the schools go back tomorrow, which means a hopeful break from the tension building, long slog of the summer.

On a happier note, Howard Bear took a day off that coincided with one of mine and so we were actually able to spend some good quality time together.

And, as you might expect, that translated to a day out. It turned into a very expensive day out, but that was less intentional.

Swapping Cars, Dentists, & Baby Birds

I may or may not have mentioned in my last blog post that my car’s MOT was due. Well, as per usual, Pretty failed it. Sad times. She didn’t fail on much, but it was the fact that she failed on rust that has encouraged me simply to get rid of her. As Howard Bear pointed out, once I start paying for one lot of rust it will just continue.

Of course, this means it’s time to get a new run around. So I should probably introduce Alba the Almera, who is getting picked up tomorrow night.

Isn’t she quite pretty? She’s got a bit of a bigger engine so she’s a bit more costly on the tax and insurance front, but she’s also a bit roomier, which might be nice for future plans.

I’m hoping I get to keep Alba for a while, if I can.
