Promo Bits, Interviews & Author Friends

What have I been up to lately? Well, let’s see. Work and visiting people. Not to mention seeing my parents. My mum is okay. Not brilliant, but she’s waiting on the doctors to sort her out properly. Scraps of writing have been accomplished here and there, but not as much as I would have liked.

I have, however, focused on creating a few promotional images for the existing books that I have for sale. Here’s one now:

As you may have guessed, this one is for Preying On Time. There are another two for that particular book, which I’ll post below.

They’re nothing amazing, but I wanted to be able to get across a bit about the book as well as catch the eye of anybody skimming through. The idea was to make colourful images with a snapshot of either the blurb or a small excerpt from the book itself.

Elves, Quarterly Reports, Vlogs & Signings!

I know they’re a weird bunch of things to list together, but after you’ve read this blog post they’ll totally make sense.

We’ll start with the elves. As you may have noticed, the word count for my anthology piece has finally reached the correct mass. It’s tentatively titled A Dream of Tomorrows, but that could change in the future.

The progress note on it is also swapped to editing instead of writing. That’s because the piece is actually, finally finished and just needs me to go over it before others get to look over it too. I’m quite happy with the piece despite the fact that it’s taken me months simply to settle on an idea.

Elves are also an unusual choice, for me. I prefer more modern fantasy than the way back whens. However, I think it’s worked out really well. Hopefully you guys will think the same. Of course, this particular piece is to be included in an anthology from most, if not all, of the Katarr Kanticles Press writers.

Cats, Book Trailers, Birthdays & Holidays

Here is a picture of our lovely, cute kitten, Barley Biscuit. And here is also a quote from an email I sent to a good friend this morning…

“He’s too intelligent for his own good and that at the moment is the problem. He has decided to take it upon himself to wake us up at 5am or earlier every morning. We’ve stopped feeding him on a morning because of it, thinking that it was because he wanted breakfast. Now he’s waking us (he does this by scratting at the door repeatedly and then if we let him in and take no notice of him he goes under the bed and pulls at the mattress right below our heads) so he can go out.

Round One: KO!

Breaking Cadence is through round one of edits. I’m pretty happy with it as far as the first book in a new series goes. Yes, I am mad enough to be writing two series simultaneously.

Breaking Cadence is the first in my Survival series whilst Preying on Time is the first in the Indigo Skies series. Both are dystopian but both are in markedly different worlds.

I’ve already started the more in depth plotting of Indigo Skies second instalment, Baying For Blood, and the preliminary outline and opening of Forgiving Zander, the follow up to Breaking Cadence, is also in progress.
