Heads, shoulders, knees & toes!
Well, mostly heads and knees. My head and my knees. I had a delightful early trip to the doctors this week. And I have another booked in for next week and one shortly after Christmas. Wooh…
No offence to any readers that are general practitioners but you’re just below dentists on my ‘what makes me anxious’ scale. It’s not your fault you scare the crap out of me.
But anyway…
As I mentioned, my mother has been to the doctors regarding what has been diagnosed as osteoarthritis. I’ve been having trouble with my knees, one specifically, for about ten years now. So I got to have jolly conversation with the doctor about that. Actually, to be fair to him, he’s the first doctor that hasn’t made me feel a little bit like an idiot with everything I’ve said.
He arranged for the appointment next week, which is a blood test. My first ever blood test. And, in case you were wondering, needles are pretty damn high up on that old anxiety list. So I will not being well that day.
Now, I don’t get the results for that until the week after Christmas. So I don’t get to find out if I do, for certain, have arthritis, too, until then. Considering the family history on both sides, I’ll be very surprised if I’ve escaped it.
I haven’t escaped the migraines and high blood pressure, either. That was another issue I brought up with the doctor and he’s prescribed me some beta-blockers after taking my pulse and blood pressure. It was, of course, delightfully high. It’s apparently also used to help lessen the symptoms of anxiety and, I must admit, I have felt much less stressed than I did before.
Hopefully this is going to be a whole new beginning for me.
In other news, we’ve had a flat inspection, visits to parents, work, and elfing by moonlight to contend with, which means I’ve been pretty busy despite the days off. I’ve gotten a little work done onĀ Calling The Wolf, but hopefully the rest of the week will mean more of that.
Don’t forget, my books make great Christmas gifts for family and friends!
Anyway, I have my own presents to wrap. Ciao!

Sending lots of love and good thoughts to you, m’love. Wee tip for blood tests, read a book or play one of those mindless matching games on your phone while it’s being done. Every nurse I’ve had has been fantastic about it, and it really helped me deal with my needle anxiety!
