Missing In Action

I have been for a while. This is not to say that I’ve been battling orcs and got mislaid during the bloody onslaught. It does, however, mean that I must once again apologise for slow posting due to an increase of stuff in my life.  If you follow my twitter or my facebook page, you may be aware that I now have a second job and that the lady I work with at my first job has been ill for about a fortnight. You may be wondering how the latter would affect my time regaling you with my insane tales and rather weird ideas.

Well, we work as school crossing patrol officers (that’s lollipop ladies to you and me) on an extremely busy T-junction, which is all fine and dandy when there are two of us to patrol it. With one, however, it poses more of a problem. Surely there should be a stand in, right? Someone to step in when we’re sick? A person to plug the gap when we’re holed up in bed with boxes of tissues, forced to watch that ghastly orange man (David Dickinson) flogging peoples precious possessions?

You’d be right. We are supposed to have a stand in.

The trouble is bureaucracy.

Not all the forms and other rubbish have been filled in for our cover patrol officer… who has also been allocated as our cover worker since before we officially started the job. So I have been doing the job of two people, to which you might reply that I have very few hours a day to work so I should have plenty of time and energy to do everything else.

Well, my new second job means that I work pretty much straight after I finish work. This leaves me getting up at 6.40am working in the morning plus the 40 minutes it takes to get there and back. Then the same in the afternoon followed by three hours of typing forms into a computer for three hours on alternate days from 5pm to 8pm. It’s the long days and the periods of intense concentration during them that leaves me feeling run down.

Anyway, enough about work. I warble on about it enough. What I should tell you next is something I have been working on rather intensely in the periods when I have had free time. And this is it:

CLICKY CLICKY!

I’ve been building a nice new site for people to be able to find out a bit more about me and my writing. It is pretty much complete for the time being and I have tried to make it as interactive and put in as many interesting/hidden things as possible… just to provide a little excitement and a little fun. It should be accessible through my http://rebeccaclaresmith.com address very soon, but how soon I am unsure. It may be that by the time you read this post it will have gone live to that domain name.

Then again, it may not.

Either way, I’d love a few opinions on it so please don’t be afraid to post a comment below.
